Replying to:RL24 Rudder
I have just replaced my out board with a Honda 5hp - brillant (and quiet), but it is higher than the original 2-stroke and whilst it tilts fully into the well, it is too high for the original rudder when tilted. Has anyone modified their original rudder to fix this problem? I believe the Mk III rudder (pivoting rudder on a welded/cast tiller assembly) was replaced on many boats with a tubular rudder/tiller along the design lines of the Mk IV dagger rudder design. I am happy to get a local shop to make the tubular assembly and raise it high enough to miss the tilted outboard. A picture of the tubular rudder housing would be really appreciated. Thanks for your help, Regards, Alex RL24-253 Red Baron II
