Replying to:RL24 swing keel problems
After 3 yrs of trouble free operation my keel has suddenly decided not to retract fully. I have carried out the obvious inspections for fouling on the keel but it seems clean( the boat spend 6 months on a mooring but has been regularly anti-fouled) when inspecting the keel while fully down there appears to be some sort of pvc insert around the keel which is moving it. Is this some sort of spacer-bush-wear plate and could it have detached from the keel housing causing the keel to jam? Any suggestions as to what I should look for or do? How about removing top of keel housing(ie making it detachable) in cabin to make it easier to inspect keel regularly
