RL 24 Berths
I'm keen to get into a Trailer Sailor, but with a young family of 5, light weight boats like the RL, with 5 berths are hard to come by. Has anybody any experience fitting a makeshift 5th berth to an RL 24? Cheers

RL 24 Births
Hi Phil You could increase child capacity of V birth by fiting a removable ply section up to mast step. Regards Greg

RL24 Berths
Phil, Depending on the model RL24 you have I wouldn't attempt to sleep an adult in the quarter berths. I have a Mk1 RL and am 6'2" and whilst the length is not a problem the height of the berths makes it impossible to rollover or sleep on the side. Best bet would be to extend the V berths to the Mast support and put the littlest up front with the adults.

Regards Alex

rl berths
I have a Mk 3 and have a board that slides out from under the V berth cushions to extend that area and have more cushion made to cover it. My crew is about 5' 8" and weighies(?) about 120kg and sleeps comfortably in the 1/4 berths. You could even make cushions to fit in the spacious cockpit and use a boom tent. Good luck and good sailing.
