2003 Bay to Bay was a blast. 10 RL24 sk's competed in division 3 and 5 dk's in div 2. Conditions were a bit close to the edge at times; we were dead lucky to get the race over before the blow came in (they registered 96 kph at Cape Moreton on Sunday but it took longer to get to Hervey Bay) From where we saw it, Chinook was the star of the div 3 RL's on Saturday: they kept their kite up in conditions that were past my comfort zone. On Sunday it was a bit more user friendly but still a bit hairy at the finish. I think Kanamatata took the div 3 honours. Correct me if I am wrong. Give it a thought for next May Day long weekend. Where else can you get together with an RL fleet like that? Rob Legg, you would have been proud of us. We certainly are of you. Catering honours went to Touche. Who else has a baine marie on board?
Great to here of so many RLs together in one place. If they all turn up at Loch Sport after Christmas for the 30th annual National Championships the fleet would more than double! What a great time that would be. Consider yourself invited.
Hi Everyone, The Bay To Bay certainly was an excellent weekend it was Kanatamata's first race since the rebuild. However we didn't get division 3 honours a boat called "Green Machine" won. I was just wondering if anyone knows where on the net I could find the results for the Bay to Bay? Also What size outboard is recommended to the RL24? I currently borrowing a 4Hp and it pushes it at 6knots in calm conditions, just wondering how it would go in rough seas? Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
