RL24 Keel Pin
I have RL24 MK111
Keel pin on starboard side is showing signs of rust through the glass. The glass is flaking but there is no leak.
The 24 was moored for 2 years prior to the new proud owner putting it back on a trailer.
Any info on whether to remove keel pin and how? or leave it alone if not leaking? would be great.

Re: RL24 Keel Pin
Merv.
As your boat had been left in the water for several years the stain on your 316 stainless keel bolt would be caused by galvanic action depositing iron from the keel to the bolt. The bolt would not be affected except for the stain, the keel will have lost a little metal around the hole, but that is not a problem as it is only intended as pivot and not a bearing, so it would be best to just leave it alone.

Re: RL24 Keel Pin
Thanks for your advice Rob. I will be leaving it alone.
