1972 RL28 - Leaking Hull While Sailing to Windward - approx. 1 gallon/hr (The Four Winds)
When sailing to windward, hull is leaking approximately 1 gallon/hr of water. Leaking is less sailing downwind and no leaking at anchor.

Unable to find source of leak - any suggestions?

Thanks, John

check the bolt on swing keel, I have an rl 24 and couldn't find where I was getting water from, on closer inspection found it was coming in around the pivot bolt, only while sailing. It was an easy job to back the bolt off and re seal it.

Hi, I have had problems with water entering whilst heeling or rough seas. I have found that water is entering the two false bulk heads either side of the engine pod. when these get full extra water seems to make its way through to the inside of the boat. I only realised the extent of this when I leaned on the top and water seeped out through the drain holes, they were that full that it took 10 minutes to empty through the 8mm holes I drilled at the base inside the engine well. I have sealed it all up now and hopefully have stopped the water entry. I will find out this weekend with fair winds.
