I,ve been reading about mast raising gadgets, I get the basic idea but what stops the mast from any sideways movement? any ideas would be helpfull. all pictures are quite hard to see any fine detail. Thanks Brad

Re: Mast Raising
If you hve a look at the second to last photo of Rings-n -things having her mast raised, to the right of the top of the first staunchion is one of two brackets mounted on either side of the cabin with one end of two short stays [1.5 mtrs.long] attached to them and the other end to the mast. The pivot point for the two short stays at the cabin end must be in line with the pivot point of the mast. If the three points are in line the stays will not slacken or tighten when the mast is raised or lowered, this will stop the mast from swinging sideways. With this system and the help of the electric anchor winch mast raising is a one man job.
