RL 28 Keel
After sailing a Farr 750 on the weekend I was most impressed by the stiffness of the 750 and would like to stiffen my 28. Has anyone place extra weight ie lead on their keel? Is there enough room between the keel and the centre plate casing for some lead weights to be placed on the keel? I have heard of people placing lead under the floor but not on the keel. Any help would be great.

RL28
Steve-my old RL28 bonnie blue apparently had an extra 150kg added to the keel-i.m not sure about the exact location or the method of fixing but I believe it was added by the original owner to make the boat more "seaworthy" in races off Seacliff SA-so it can be done.and I did sail her down to NW Kangaroo Island a few times in reasonable weather without too much fuss. Give me a call at work on 0883592599 if you want to discuss Cheers

See article under 'Tips and Modifications'
There is an article on adding ballast to an RL28, written by John Brooker, in the 'Tips and Modifications' section. Go to the home page and click on the link.
