I am considering buying an RL28 that has been sadly neglected in recent years by its 85-year-old owner. Needs an internal refit, which is fine - what I'm concerned about is the shaft-drive Sole diesel, which looks in very rough condition though still runs.
Has anyone had experience with this arrangement, relating to maintenance, reliability, performance and costs? Also any ideas as to what era it would be, since more recent examples mention a Volvo saildrive.
I'd appreciate other comments on potential pitfalls, and also positives. Eg - are they are fast boat? Please email direct or call 0407 075 106.
