keel hydraulic oil
I am changing the hydraulic oil for the 28 lift keel ram. The old oil has a slight linseed smell to it and I am a little apprehensive about replacing it with the steering system oil available at the local chandelry. I have not been able to find the firm named on the ram sticker so it may be out of business. Has anyone changed this oil or any advice on what to do.

Re: keel hydraulic oil
The oil I used in Rings-n-things hydraulic keel system with both the old manual pump and the new 12volt electric pump is standard industrial hydraulic oil [DTE20 or similar] which is readily available from any of the industrial hydraulic service suppliers such as Enzed,Flotek,Rexroth.ect. Hydraulic brake fluid and automatic transmission oil is not suitable and should not be used.

Re: keel hydraulic oil
Hi Kingsley,
I would like to convert mine to electric. What do I need to purchase, where, how much? Are there limit and pressure switches? Photos would be much appreciated. Thanking you in advance. Frank.
