Garry. Your RL28 would have been built in 1983-84.
The only boats that carried identity plates were boats built in survey, and that imformation was moulded in to the inside of the transon. Sail numbers were issued in numerical order.
Note. Some boats finished from kits may have been launched quite some time later than the sail number issued would indicate. I know of one boat that was launched ten years after delivery.
The boat is actually older than I thought as the previous owners thought it was around a 1990's model, but stressed that they were not sure.
I am not upset or anything as the boat is still in very good condition and is very comfortable.
Is there any way I can tell if it is a home finished boat or finished at the factory?
The first 28s were produced in 1977 and our production ran thru untill 1988 when we sold the buisness, Sail no 125 would have been reached by half way thru the run.
How many boats were built after that I would not know.
Without seeing your boat it would be hard to tell if it was factory finished or not, but most home finished boats were finished off with factory supplied kits, and standard fittings.
