Report attached (I think). Once again a good time was had but not by all. A lot of RL's were DNF.
The usual suspects, "Kanatamata" and "Sarnia" gave us another sailing lesson and "Tigress" impressed in the conditions. The annual battle between "Touche" and "Apache" had "Apache" wearing the leaders yellow T shirts at the end of day 1 but they lost their mast near the end of day 2.

Maybe next year we might get the down hill spinaker run we have heard about, but this year was certainally another hard slog to windward and against the tide. After an interesting start High Spirits excelled in the first day as we had a good run up past Inskip with the tide then out to the western side out of the quick water with the run to Garrys. It was great to see the RL24s doing what it does well in handling the chop with good breeze. We had close racing all the way and I was pleased to catch up with other owners at the overnite stop. Second day was not as good as the first as the wind dropped to 3/5 knots and against the tide. It was difficult sailing into the chop and it seemed like a bloody long way to the end. Finally we made it and the three RL24s crossing the line a few boat lengths from each other. We were pretty happy with our effort, 52 out of the 90 odd that finished. We'll definately be back next year and hope that there will be as many RL24s there again to compete.
If anyone is interested the Keepit Kool regatta is being held on June 10,11 and 12. A great trailer boat event with 6 scheduled races. Email me for the NOR.
