Replying to:Electric Anchor Winch
Hi guys. I am planning on fitting an anchor winch to our RL28 soon but a couple of things concern me. Firstly the anchor winch could not sit right up the front of the bow because our headsail furler would be in the way. I have thought of using some Stainless Pipe, or pully to re-route the anchor chain along the starboard side of the anchor well and then offset mount the anchor whinch on the starboard side (as the furler rope travels along the port side.) Can anyone foresee any problems with this? Has anyone fitted an anchor winch while using a headsail furler? The only other concern I have is that the anchor well, while quite large, is also quite shallow and I am worried that the anchor chain may not spread itself out as it comes in but rather will fall in one spot and gradually fill up to the winch and become blocked. Again does anyone have any experience with this? I look forward to hearing any comments or suggestions. Best regards Garry Beattie
