Mast Foot
I want to be able to step the mast (on a 24) on the mast foot and keep it in place when I raise the mast, it can easily slip off if I don't keep sufficient downward pressure. Currently, the mast base sits on top of a large bolt. Surely there is another mast base that I can fit onto the mast, then place the large stainless steel bolt through it.
Any ideas if this is possible, and where this may be purchased.

Cheers

Re: Mast Foot
You will need to measure your mast section and also note how many halyards and other lines need to go through the mast base. Whether the lines are at an angle is also an issue.

With that information
Keeley Marine Supplies
Fcty 2/ 6 Horscroft Pl
Moorabbin 3189
(03) 9555 4965

may be able to help you with a new mast base. There is bound to be some rerigging required.

Re: Mast Foot
When I step my mast, I use the topping lift and pass it under the bolt and around a cleat on the mast. I do this a couple of times and it stops the mast from kickng out. Doing this and another couple of tricky things, I can raise my mast by myself.

Re: Mast Foot
I have an RL24 Mk3 which has a stainless plate say 15mm x 50mm x 1mm bent to the shape of the aluminium foot and bolted with tapped threads to the aluminium foot. The large stainless bolt fits above this. as through a slot. To take the mast off, or put it on I can either undo and slide out the big bolt or undo the 2 small ones holding on the plate.

Re: Mast Foot
David, you wouldn't have a picture of this, it sounds like it may be what I am after, to make up.
