portlights in cabintop of RL28
Trying to find replacement opening portlights for the cabintop of an RL28. THe old ones are by RC Marine in New Zealand but I can't find a web site for the company or the same product in Aust.
Hoping someone has replaced them with a similar product and can tell me where to get them.

Re: portlights in cabintop of RL28
Hello Jason 2nd attempt. On havachat the portlights are fixed screwed in perspect. There is an additional hatch the same size as the one in the front cabin in the centre of the cabin above the salon table. This has been in there for many years & allows plenty of air through at anchor, at night I only have it slightly opened to reduce the draught through it Regards Rob

Re: portlights in cabintop of RL28
Hi Jason
I think the ones on Sundance are "Beckson" portlights available from Whitworths at the princely sum of $200 ea, fitted "inside-out". I am about to replace mine (old, shagged) with smoked perspex / lexan. Cheap, and one less thing to stub the toes on.

Re: portlights in cabintop of RL28
Thankyou Chris and Rob,
I like the idea of doing away with the old portlights replacing them with perspex. Adding a new hatch that opens from the inside will stop possible future vandalism problems as the old ones are opened from outside.

Re: portlights in cabintop of RL28
What I did with mine was remove the port lights and with a hacksaw I cut the frames in half. Removed the old perspex and seailng rubbers. I then filled the frames with corking sealant and fitted the new perspex into the frame. I used the old perspex as a pattern. Then once the sealant set I refitted the portlight which not only looks much better but doesnt leak anymore also. I hope that helps.
