Electric winch on swing keel
Spend a lot of time with our RL24 in the river and forever in the cabin winding keel up and down, has anyone fitted 12v winch to keel retrieval system? Purists will shudder but I'm 2meters tall and it is most uncomfortable on the hand winch.

Re: Electric winch on swing keel
On my RL I have fitted a system of pulleys which are operated from the cockpit. I can raise and lower the swing keel without entering the cabin. The pully rope cleats off just inside the cabin so that if weather necessitates closing the hatch I can. It works great and there is nothing to take the bark of my ankle or shins in the confines of the cabin.

Re: Electric winch on swing keel
The block and tackle system aalso works well for me. I have 2 double blocks at the top of the mast support and a treble with becket on the keel lift wire giving a 7:1. The tail goes to the cockpit through a grommet (a cut down skin fitting)and cleats off on a side mount clam cleat.
It is quicker than a winch.
Cheers
