Return to the Forum List Turtle preventer | There has been a discussion recently in Trailer Sailor Place about knockdowns in the RL24 and RL28 and how in strong winds the boat may turn turtle as the keel swings up into the case. Has anyone used a turtle preventer at the top of the mast to at least keep the boat on its side. If so what are you using? Burt in Denver Colorado

| Re: Turtle preventer | Burt, the best prevention is to stop the swing keel from swinging up into its case. A keel lock pin is easily fitted in such a position that it allows about a foot of backward movement in the case of grounding but will not allow the keel to move past that point.
