Replying to:Backstay catches battens when tacking on RL24
I am having difficulty with my mainsail battens getting caught on the backstay when tacking.

I am seeking advice or a design for a stainless steel device to be mounted at the top of the mast whereby the back stay can be released and raised clear to allow the main to swing across. I have seen on other boats fibreglass struts that lift the backstay clear during a tack.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
